ColorMarq is a patented ID System for shelved library books and media. The system is comprised of color identifying collection item labels, which are automatically created from cataloged book classification numbers. ColorMarq actually creates a color-coded, vertical representation of the call number. When ColorMarq ID Labeled books are on the shelves, the plurality of books form horizontal classification color bands which enable rapid reshelving of books after circulation and virtually eliminate mis-shelved books by enabling visual scanning. It's easy to see, when a continuous color band is interrupted, that a book is out of order. Whether books are mis-shelved only a slight distance from their correct order location or belong on another shelf or aisle, they are quickly found during a quick visual scan of the shelves.
ColorMarq Software interacts with the library's classification system by importing ILS data records to create identifying labels that are a visual representation of catalog order when books are on the library shelves. Stack management is simplified and thus more efficient in terms of monetary and human resources.
